Idiomas, LLC is part of the DMV List of Approved Translators. Dr. Miranda has achieved DMV-Approved Translator Status through the fulfillment of the individual requirements set forth by the CT Department of Motor Vehicles.

All documents for the Connecticut DMV are translated personally by Dr. Miranda. These documents usually involve the translation from Spanish into English of documentation from other countries that is relevant to the needs of the Connecticut DMV. Examples include driver’s licenses, birth certificates, identity cards, etc. issued abroad.

Our Procedure

It is not necessary to visit our offices to have documents translated. But you may do so, by appointment only.

The usual procedure for translation is as follows:

A. You Provide Documents Needing Translation

You provide the document(s) that the Connecticut DMV requires to be translated. We can accept them in printed form by mail or fax, or electronically via email. The image needs to be readable and all parts of the document must be clearly visible and legible.

B. Translation and Certification

Dr. Miranda translates your documents. Once the translation is done, we issue a Certificate of Accuracy that shows that the translation was completed by a DMV-Approved Translator. Dr. Miranda then signs the certificate in the presence of a Notary Public. This process takes 2-3 business days.

C. Payment

When the certification process is complete, the document is ready to be released. Two options are available:

  1. Customer can pay with cash, check or credit card in person.

    OR

  2. Customer can call our office and pay with a credit card over the phone. We accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express.

D. Delivery

Two options are available for document delivery (includes translation, notarized certification, invoice and payment receipt):

  1. Customer can arrange to pick up the documents in person.

    OR

  2. Documents can be mailed via Priority Mail to the customer. The United States Postal Service usually delivers Priority Mail pieces within Connecticut from one day to the next.

It is important to note that our office cannot assist individuals with the actual DMV process. CT DMV offices throughout the state decide what documents require translation. For additional information, please contact your local DMV office or visit the Connecticut DMV website.
